I have a couple of thing on my wish list, should we decide in the future to buy another home. First, a conventional wood burning fireplace and an indoor jacuzzi. These are the two things that we don’t have in our current home right now. The jacuzzi situated in the master bath would be ideal and of course, fireplaces in the living room and in the den.
I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a marble fireplace mantel. In fact, I was just browsing online at MarbleUnique.com, and I was mesmerized by the wide variety of artfully designed marble fireplace mantel from the simplest design to the most intricate design you can imagine. The company directly imports quality marble that’s why, they can extend wholesale pricing to their customers. I noticed their warranty and let me tell you, where in the world can you find a company that will replace damaged goods while in transit. They do! The online portal is presented well, and navigating the pages is so easy. And by the way, they not only sell fireplace mantels, you can also get water fountains, columns, statues and more.

I have repeatedly mentioned in the past that when it comes to decorating, I prefer traditional style decors and that includes furniture. However, lately I have been drawn to Modern Furniture because the designs are fluid and the lines are clean. Several friends of mine have already embraced the modern look and it should be, because the architectural design of their homes are consistently modern, while mine is traditional. They are happy with their choice of furniture.
Should it happen in the future that we buy a home with modern bones, I will definitely be for it. TwoDeco.com, an online portal that sells Modern Commercial Furniture will be a good source. Right now, they also carry transitional furniture so this will also be a good option for me. The furniture line-up is so impressive and incredibly priced from great manufacturers. Just looking at their bar and counter stools makes me imagine having a wet bar with modern furniture. What’s more, should one have a big project and commercial furniture is in order, their highly knowledgeable staff will be on call to extend assistance.
As I look around even when I go to certain establishments, like bars and restaurants Commercial Furniture with modern twists are so prevalently used. I surmised, this must be because of their easy maintenance and streamlined look. If only for that, I think I’m now fully convinced “going modern” is my next route.

Among family and friends, it’s not a hidden secret how I have been interested in interior design. It just didn’t happen overnight, as I also had this passion even when I was still single. I decorated my own place to my heart’s content, and since I didn’t have to consider anyone else, I was able to express myself through pieces of accessories, color palette, furniture and different textures that I wanted to incorporate in a room.
That passion was all the more ignited when I got married, and became a full time housewife. After our wedding, I moved in to my husband’s apartment that he’s owned since he got out of his parent’s home. And what was my first mission? To re-decorate and transform the place to my liking. Needless to say, that the apartment was decorated tastefully, considering that it was a bachelor man living there. The one thing that I really didn’t like was the wall to wall carpeting in all the rooms except the kitchen and bathroom.
Off the carpeting went, and the floor once stripped, revealed beautiful hardwood floors, which we had sanded and re-finished. I was extremely satisfied with the look, I went ahead and bought area rugs for all the rooms. Since, I have a love affair with traditional decors, the area rugs I bought were all of the same style. My husband loved the transformation.
Now on to our new place, four years ago, I again had the chance to explore my decorating sense. Although, I worked with an architect and an interior designer (the real thing, *lol*), I had a say on all the single detail that was done. For some of you that have been reading this blog for a while, you’ve seen pictures of our place. Did you notice that area rugs are used in all the rooms? And that does not spare the eat-in kitchen. I have an 8′x11′ sisal area rug that anchors the breakfast nook. Starting from our foyer, as you enter you’ll immediately notice the liberal use of area rugs. Almost all the area rugs I picked have a traditional feel, they just differ from colors and design.
I love the idea of being able to replace area rugs whenever I fancy. As compared to carpeting, whenever a replacement is needed, it entails labor to pull up the old and oh, those pins and what not used to anchor the carpet, it’s aplenty, plus add to that the fact that, all the furniture will have to be moved. With the wide selection of area rugs at BoldRugs.com, I will never run out of area rugs to buy. Besides, with the four seasons here, changing area rugs every season change is a welcoming thought. Why shouldn’t I make my home match the change in seasonal colors? After all, it’s an extension of myself.
Area rugs are decorative and adds softness to a room. It adds depth and texture, and most of all it anchors a room and adds texture. I have no reservations using area rugs all over, including the bathroom. Do you?

It’s no secret that I’m inclined to decorating, and I love doing it. In fact, as I have previously written before, I have been considering taking interior design courses at NYIT. And these days, I think my mind is really geared towards makeover mode. As previously written a few days ago, I have been seriously thinking of a living room makeover. I’m not referring to any kind of serious demolition, but only a total change in the components of what’s there like furniture, accessories etc. Painting is not even welcomed, I’m okay with the colors of our wall.
With this in mind, I have been looking into grandfather clocks like this one:
I like the lines and traditional style of this Howard Miller Hayes grandfather clock . I have never owned one before, but just by looking into it, I’m quite sure that it will add texture to our living room, as I believe grandfather clocks not only serve as an accessory, they are also considered as furniture. It will for sure serve as an anchor to the room and add elegance and charm to the whole space. I imagine the nice music too. I will have to get used to the every hour on the hour chime which is a welcoming sound especially in our home where silence reigns, as you know, I’m all alone everyday till my husband comes home from work.
Having written all these, I think I know exactly where to source out my grandfather clock. At 1-800-4clocks.com. I will start my search on the net, but I can check it out and see for myself. You know why? The store is not only on the internet, it is also located at the Grand Central Station here, where I live, in New York. And the web address is also the store name. The thought of being able to see it personally is exciting. I just hope I won’t be drowned in the store, as I know they have a wide array of grandfather clocks in every style imaginable. Not to forget that they too have all the famous brands at real competitive prices.
