I’ve been remiss in updating this blog for more than a month. What can I say? Life has been hectic lately and in as much as there are numerous posts on my draft folder, I just was not in the right frame of mind to even hit the publish button. When ones mind is saddled and preoccupied with a lot of things beyond ones control, you lost track and lost your interest.
I know, I should manage life’s stresses a lot better but just like many of us, it’s easier said than done. Meditation and praying are my go-to activities when times like this hit me.
I have a long way to go when it comes to managing stress. I wish I have the same disposition as that of a close friend who goes through life’s ups and downs with her head held high, happy and content as can be, and depends on God’s blessings. I guess, I have a long way to go. Strengthening my faith is simply a work in progress.
So, what have we been up to lately?
Since I’m updating anyway, I’ll make this update read-worthy (hopefully) for my avid readers ( if there are any by the way).
The last part of September was filled with anticipation. You know, when you have a lot of questions and all you could do is wait for the answer. That best described how it went. I’m so happy to note though that questions were answered and everything is fine.
We tried our best to live life as normal as can be. Let these pictures do the talking.
We still did our weekly run to Whole Foods (my favorite place on earth). It was such a delight to see these colorful display right in front of the store.
It’s amazing how the weather can change in the flick of a finger. On our way home from Whole Foods, rain started to pour heavily. I can’t help but snap a shot through Sexie’s panoramic moon roof.
As a result of the heavy congestion on the road, we took a detour and wound up taking out bubble teas. This large serving was more than enough to take us through late afternoon.
I’ve discovered the nearest Saturday Green Market at the Grand Army Plaza through our Dentist. While my husband had some work done, I explored alone and surprisingly bought some organic produce. Only to find myself yet again the following Saturday and bought the same stuff and at that time I finally went for the squash blossoms. I made dinner out of these babies (one of these coming days, I’ll write about it separately).
Later that same day, I coerced my husband to bring me to the Pinoy store in Long Island. I had to satisfy my cravings for danggit ( Ellaine’s fault). It was a success! It was even better because I got the ready to eat danggit ( I didn’t have to deal with a smelly kitchen). I went home with more goodies than I originally intended.
Aside from bubble tea, my newest addiction is Starbucks Oprah Iced Teavana Chai tea.
It was rather unusual that I could still wear sandals by the end of September. I took this shoe selfie on my way to a very important appointment on September 29. After that appointment, I had a spring into my step. As you may guessed it by now, this was the day I got the answers to my questions.
October started on a high note. At this point, I can say that our Wednesdays will never be the same again till April 2015. My husband who was born and raised Jewish, have elected to join me and embrace Catholicism. On October 1st this year, he officially started his journey into Catholicism. In a few months, I will no longer write that I come from an inter-faith marriage (just the thought of it makes me really smile). Every Wednesday after work, he goes straight to his Adult Religious Education class and he’s not home till 9:30 p.m. To say that he’s got a lot on his plate right now is an understatement, but he is excited with every class and our weekends have never been the same again because now, part of our weekend revolves around discussing the readings and the gospel.
It’s amazing how I felt compelled to take a snapshot of this full moon one early evening. I was still over the moon about the good news and I can’t help but appreciate one of the many wonderful creations of God.
Yes, I needed to take this selfie (in our bathroom no less). I wasn’t sure if I can demand a snapshot from my husband that day because it was another rainy day. I needed this for Tita Beng to see.
I got lucky somehow that we got a break from the pouring rain so here’s what happened next.
This past weekend, we had an appointment at the BMW dealership. A few days back, we received a letter offering us 110% buyback. Apparently, the new owners’ objective is to increase their used car inventory by buying back units from former clients. We had nothing to lose but time, so we went and heard the offer. Sexie’s mileage is only 6,800 miles, basically a baby, barely used. We weren’t willing to ‘give it away’. So for now, Sexie will still be my baby. Meanwhile, we had the chance to browse through the new models. The newer the vehicle, the more enhancements and newfangled things to learn (something unwelcoming for a new technology phobic gal like me).
I hope that this update will suffice after my more than one month hiatus. If you’re still reading up to this point, I guess you must be an avid reader. Till next update. This time, I’m hoping that it won’t take this long. I’m not making any promises but yes, I’ll do my best.
