That was some day I had yesterday. It was a conscious effort for me to wake up early so I can get done with all my errands at a decent time but just the same, I was not home till 6:30 p.m. I was lucky that I didn’t run into any kind of traffic even in the expressway, so that made way for a quick ride both ways.
I accomplished a lot though. After many days of slaving myself assembling and writing Holiday cards for friends and family overseas, they finally all went out through the mail yesterday. It took two trips to the post office to get it all done because I had to make sure I affixed the proper postage based on the destination. Many may think it’s a tad early to send holiday cards, but I don’t want a repeat of last year’s experience wherein the recipients overseas received the cards after the Holiday even if they were sent out in the mail on December 1st. I wish I can say that our holiday cards have all been sent, but no. I still anticipate several days of writing and assembling the cards that I will send locally and inter-state.
I’m also finally done with holiday shopping yesterday. Now, I have to face the tedious job of gift wrapping except for the select few that I had gift-wrapped c/o the store (a few department stores in NYC offer complimentary service and wrap gifts beautifully that I didn’t mind waiting at the store. besides, these were bought a couple of months ago so there was no crowd to contend with).
At the end of my errands, I thought of giving myself a reward. Since I haven’t been to Red Mango in quite a while, I dropped by to get my quick fix. I availed of my 20% discount via the Club Mango Card. At 5:30 p.m. it was already dark outside. I didn’t want to sit alone inside the store so I enjoyed my treat in the company of Sexie.
After running around like a mad man all day, believe me, I didn’t have the energy to put away all the things that I brought home. They are still perched in the foyer. I’ll get to them later. I’m actually tempted to just let them sit around in the foyer so I’m always reminded that sitting around needs to take a backseat for now. I need to get started and start wrapping the gifts. Oh, I also have to pull out from the closet the gift items that I bought a few months back that also needs to be wrapped.
Oh… the joys of the Holidays. I need to inhale… exhale.
