She Got Over Her Obsession

My Mom who is an only child happens to have several cousins who are  medical practitioners. There are several  doctors with varying specialties, nurses and dentists. Having said that, it  became her objective to have at least two of her children to get a degree in Medicine (a doctor)  and Nursing (a nurse).

Destiny took a different route, though. She ended having only two nurses. The one posed to be a doctor (that was me), got a pre-med degree but didn’t proceed to Medical School. She (me) figured, she can bring home (marry) a doctor in the family without going to med school herself so that was a good enough “barter” with her Mom. As luck would have it, that did not come true (he was let go ) and instead of bringing a doctor to Mom, I brought home a  Wall Street man (lol).

To make the long story short, aside from my Mom’s obsession of having a doctor and a nurse for a child, I also found out about her fascination for  medical scrubs . In her eyes, donning such attire is noble in itself because not every one can do so.  That is granting, that an ordinary individual is not just crazy enough to order and buy scrubs online just for the sake of  having one. With the proliferation of scrub stores both online and on retail establishments, it is indeed possible to buy them easily if you are that obsessed to wear one.

Fast forward, my Mom has already withdrawn from her obsession. She was just happy that all of her five children got all their degrees, became professionals and now leading their productive lives with their families which eventually gave her six grandchildren (too bad, I have not contributed to the count).
