What's Up With The Brown?

I have been anticipating the arrival of Mr. Brown all day yesterday.

No, he is not the typical guy with a Brown for his last name. I’m referring to the trusty UPS guy that services our area. I trust this service so much that whenever I order anything online, I won’t place my order if the forwarder is not UPS.

Welcome to UPS

Why do I trust this service? Because the guy is very predictable. He comes and goes like clockwork. It’s almost certain that whenever he drops off a package, you can count on him to be there between 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. It never fails, except the other day (Tuesday) when he delivered a package at almost 2:30 p.m. I wanted to know why he was late and I was told that he was running late because of the volume of packages brought about by the delays due to the snowstorm last week. OK, fine.

Yesterday (Wednesday) though was a totally different story. I was again expecting another delivery. And when I do, I track the package online like a hawk the night before, right before I go offline  just to be sure. More often than not, I don’t log online again till late afternoon the following day.

Knowing fully well that the Vita-mix was due for delivery yesterday, I waited for the buzz. Three o’cklock  passed and I didn’t have my Vita-mix. That’s when I logged online, only to find out from the tracking page that the status of the package was changed from the scheduled delivery date : March 3 to EXCEPTION – and described in their website as: “EMERGENCY CONDITIONS BEYOND UPS’ CONTROL”. I don’t know what happened there but the last tracking indicated that the package is already in their distribution area near us.

There is also another package that I’m expecting through UPS, and the status on the tracking page as of  yesterday  is indicated as BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED since February 27.  It has not moved since, until a few minutes ago. I just tracked the package and it is now due for delivery today. I don’t know what’s going on but this item is coming from Pennsylvania (ordered on February 26) while the other one (the one tracked as EXCEPTION) originated from Ohio(ordered on February 27) both on ground shipping. I actually got another package from Florida (also ordered on February 26- ground shipping) and I already received the package on March 2 Tuesday.

On days when I’m expecting my shopping loots, I always make it a point to make myself available. Just like any other woman that loves to shop, the delivery waiting game is the equivalent to the ‘fitting and or picking/choosing’ of a certain merchandise in-store. People residing on  a doorman building,  expect their packages to be taken cared of  if they are  not available, but  nothing beats the excitement of opening the package right there and then straight from the box as soon as its handed to you.

Among the batch of items that I bought online, that Vita-mix is the one that excites me the most. It’s sad that it’s the one that is in limbo. As of press time, it is still on EXCEPTION status. I’m now starting to think that maybe, they dropped the package and everything broke!???? It’s 26.7 lbs. in weight and what can be that emergency situation beyond UPS’s control?

  • Hello J! What would happen if it’s damaged along the way? I bet it cost a hefty sum. Mukhang pampa-healthy pa naman yata un, sayang din!

ay naku, buti dumating na. intact naman and I have put together the reason why this happened. our area has been given to a trainee and I heard that he will handle the area for two months. kinalimutan sigurong i-load yung big box.

  • Ay naku Tuks…I hate the waiting game. Yung bday gift ni M in-order ko online…but I ordered it na medyo late ng konti so I was on edge the whole time I waiting kasi di ako sigurado kung aabot….

Gabing gabi na ko nag hop….I’m the only one who’s still awake so napaka tahimik ng bahay namin. Yung bata di ko alam kung tulog na actually kasi minsan tahimik lang sya kasi ayaw makagalitan…hehehe….

Happy weekend! I hope you’ll have a great weather para naman ma enjoy ninyo…

PS… naku di ko makuha yung code ng tama so I keep getting the error…ugh..

I’m normally kampante when my deliveries are through UPS. it’s just this one that got me really on edge. It turned out, our area is now given to a trainee for a couple of months kasya naiwan siguro yung package.

  • I work closely with UPS for the products we ship out from our company. Believe it or not, when its says “emergency conditions beyond UPS Control” it could range from weather conditions like SNOW — to someone in your neighborhood THROWING ROCKS AT THE UPS TRUCK. Seriously!

that may be true in some cases, but on the supposed day of delivery, it was dry here and there was absolutely no commotion or unusual incident here in the neighborhood. as I found out, it may have been because of the new guy, who came by the next day. he was handing me 1 small package wherein fact I was expecting two (the big box was the one that should have been delivered a day before). I had to tell him that I was expecting two packages, and lo and behold the big box was in the truck.

  • I usually use the US Mail and they too have tracking on line as well as confirmations that are often worthwhile to purchase. I’m typically not home when delivery takes place so no waiting game for me; but my mail man is a wonderful guy and takes extra special care. I get lots of packages; several each week.

Gotta go with the service that works for you, that’s cost efficient and convenient.

Hope your package’s arrive soon and safely. Goodness the one’s been a long time in coming.

that is so true. we have to work with the service that works for us. USPS is also good.

  • I hate UPS! They are not good in terms of delivering the packages. They leave the packages outside the house when the rightful owner is not at home. I mean, how can they just leave the package outside the house when someone has to sign the delivery form? I am hating them so bad! It didnt happen to me once but many times.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience with them. I guess, their service is largely dependent on the delivery person, although, such should not be the case. In our area, as I wrote, UPS is my preferred carrier as the guy is really reliable and efficient.
