Santa Showed Up Too Early

As expected, the city (Manhattan) was festive last Saturday. It was steaming with people and although, it was hard to navigate around within certain areas, we had a lot of fun.

In between going about with our big project (yes, it’s still in the works *frustrating, if I may add* and I have no idea when we’ll finally see the end of the tunnel), we managed to bounce by and go around. We haven’t had the chance to go to Rockefeller Center to take a glimpse of the tree. There simply was not enough time and before we knew it, it was already getting late. As usual, my husband, the perennial foodie wanted to have dinner.

I had fun watching the throngs of Santa-clad men and women all over the streets of Manhattan.

In fact, as we were headed home we bumped into several of them on the train, right by the train car that we were  in. When one of the female riders (a tourist) requested to pose with them, they happily obliged. The flash of cameras from several subway passengers including me, started to flood, and they didn’t mind.  Too bad, I was not on the right angle to get them all on one frame. There were probably five of them on the car.

Would you bring home one of them to amaze your little ones?

  • They dress up just for fun? Or is like a ‘job’? Walang ganong Santa dito…meron sa mall but we don’t go to the mall much. I’m sure ma amuse si E if she sees that many Santas walking around.

no, it’s not a job, but they were definitely dressed for fun as, it was the annual convention called SantaCon here in NYC where there was a mass gathering of revelers dressed as Santa who take to the streets in the city. it was actually a part of an annual pub crawl. SantaCon is aptly described as a not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious & non-logical Santa Claus convention, attended for absolutely no reason hahaha. they might have the same thing somewhere in Florida too as I heard this is not only in NY. maybe you can bring E to see them while she still believes in Santa.

  • I was able to spend some time in New York before returning to the Philippines. I loved the food and the architecture but not much else. To answer your question about taking complete strangers parading around the streets of New York home to the Kids, ah…No! ;o) Ingat Lagi.
