Only In New York?

Being on the roads and parkways here in New York for most of the days for the past two weeks was not only tiring it was also stressful. While trudging the expressways, you normally expect to run at highway speeds, but that is not the case here in New York. What makes it even worse is the fact that it is very hard to predict when you hit traffic. Gone are the days wherein you’d expect traffic only when  rush hour hits.  Nowadays, even at dead hours you can hit that gargantuan traffic.

Thus, with camera on hand, I made use of my idle time taking pics of anything that captured my interest:

See the parking lot, er traffic? This is on one of NY’s parkways.

He is not soliciting or begging for alms, he is selling newspapers and bottled water.

The cooler loaded with bottled water.

Do you see the same sight on your expressway? Or, maybe these can only be seen here in New York?

  • Because the main highways down south to New York from our place –are 1-95, and Merritt Parkway, traffic can be predictable, in most cases. Unexpectedly, worst scenarios can also occur for no apparent reason at all—maybe shopping traffic or accidents. So, the roads can also be “unpredictable” at times. We also see that here in CT roads, people selling water, and newspapers . Even crazy people who pretend they are the parking ticket guards. But only in the “poor areas of CT” coz most of CT are upper -middle class suburbia, so not a common sight. But we live in one of the poorest towns in the richest state, men selling bottled water, and newspapers , and crazy parking ticket persons can be seen here.
