I couldn’t bear not to see any sign of life in our balcony this planting season. With an anticipated very hectic schedule this summer, I initially planned not to plant at all but the idea just didn’t agree with me.
Now, I have an abundant supply of cilantro and parsley. In fact, they seem to grow so fast that I find myself snipping off the herbs often. I haven’t been cooking for the past week and I will not cook this week too, so I now have a big inventory. I don’t know what to do with the herbs.

Any takers?

ganda ng garden mo….pahingi nga….hehhehehe..

I wish I can just grab some kasi fresh herbs eh the best pa din instead of the dried ones in bottles. I still have not planted vegetables kasi we need to put up some fence…kundi kakainin lang ng mga alipores namin dito….rabbits, squirrels, armadillo at kung ano ano pa.
I have some sweet potatoes in pots….I love the leaves so yun lang ang meron ako…..hehe.
Enjoy the week Tuks! I hope this week brings some good news from home….

Hello Juliana,
Very nice herb pots!
I also have a few in my balcony. I suggest you cut the parsley, wash it and then you can freeze it in little plastic bags to be used latter. I use frozen parsley in stews, omelettes and other dishes. It doesn´t look as good as fresh but the flavor is conserved.
Good week ahead, Regards,
Mizé.

That’s a very impressive little garden you have. Wish I could find the time to do the same thing. If no one else will take them, you can dry them and send them to me. I love those herbs. Have you tried using them on your omelet? They make an awesome omelet.
Gandang hapon! Andito ako ng medyo maaga…while waiting for the hubby to come home. Dinner is ready…tacos!
Off pa rin ba si F?

I freeze my extra herbs in ice cube trays and then you can take out as many cubes at a time as you want and it doesn’t take up too much room…

Aga mo namasyal today Tuks. Wala kayong lakad ni F? Yung kamote ko galing sa kamote mismo…haha. Yung sweet potato na hindi ko nailuto nag sprout ng dahon after a while. Yun ang inilagay ko sa paso. But I remember nung bata pa kami we used the tangkay to plant them in our backyard so pwede rin siguro yun. You can plant some sa iyong garden kasi sa paso lang naka tanim yung sa akin eh. Kaya lang walang ganong talbos. Do you eat the leaves ba? Kasi sa amin di lang talbos…pati dahon niluluto namin. Yung iba kasi puro talbos lang ang kinakain.
O siya…try sticking a couple of sweet potatoes sa paso…before you know it, may kamote leaves ka na din…hehe.

Hey I think that best idea will be to use your herbs in a mocktail or cocktail. Or else u can store them properly and use them in future.
Btw, I really like your blog so I submitted it to Viralogy.com. That will help more people discover it! If you want you can claim your blog at viralogy.com which will also help your ranking. Hope you get more traffic through that!

@ mabelle
here’s a bunch. tsamba lang.
@ Tuks
you said it. fresh herbs in dishes are prime. I wish they survive the winter here but I it’s not possible.
@ recel
I just got lucky again. I hope they live through the summer.
@ Mize
thanks for the idea friend. I will try to do your suggestion. they are growing faster than we can consume.
@ Tita Beng
oo nga. here’s a bunch, which one do you prefer? (LOL)
@ grampy
thanks, grampy. oh yes, the neighbors are happy recipients. although, they don’t cook as frequent as I do.
thanks for appreciating, Staciesmadness.
@ Nilz
thanks Nilz!
@ Maricris
thanks for appreciating, Maricris.
oh yes, they are great in omelets. I haven’t tried drying herbs. once I try and it’s done successfully, I’ll let you know. maybe, I can send some to you (lol).
@ Tuks
yes, but he’s going back on Monday.
@ Irene
you should try. herbs are easy to grow and care for. Good luck!
@ Tanya
thanks for the idea. very much appreciated.
@ tuks
ganun ka-inocente eh. not sure how they came from. might as well do what you did. buy sweet potato and let it sprout bago ilagay sa container. sure, we eat the leaves but of course, mainam sana if there’s plenty of talbos. naglalaway tuloy ako.
@ Ddiva
looks like freezing and drying is the way to go as I noted the other commenter’s suggestions. thanks so much.
@ Josh Patel
thanks for the suggestion and for appreciating what you saw here in my blog. I will check out Viralogy.com soon.
I love fresh herbs. There are a few things you can do with these. You can dry the herbs in your microwave on paper towel then crumble up the leaves and store in a jar. Or you can clip off the leafy parts and make an herb and water slurry in your food processor. Freeze the slurry in ice cube trays and then keep the cubes in a bag in the freezer. Add a cube of frozen herbs to dishes like pasta sauces, soups, stews, when cooking pasta, etc.
