The past few days, I’ve been hooked with paper scrapping and reading. No, I didn’t hie off to some exotic place. I was just here at home. Although, I was really slow with scrapping, as my creative juices are drained, I got by and made at least three pages. It was also great catching up with reading half of a book that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time.
If you dropped by my blogs the past few days, you must have noticed the state of my blogs. Yes, it would have been a nightmare for me if not for the help of my fairy godmother who is always there for me especially with the technical side of blogging.
So what transpired? My webhost suspended my account because apparently, my three blogs was taking up 40% of the shared server. After the first suspension, and a quick fix was put in place, the blogs were back right online. Only to wake up the following day that the account was suspended again, and this time it was the last chance to fix the problem. Who would have thought that a webhost can give an ultimatum? I still have 120 days of paid up subscription left, and I find it ridiculous for them to impose suspension for good. But such is such, hence, that brought the whole overhaul on the databases and had to request my webhost to reset the account.
It entailed and will entail a lot of work (optimize, repair, export, import files, etc.) but this experience all the more made me rethink my position about blogging. If my mindset stays the same until I reach the 120 days subscription, there may be big changes that will take place here.
As it is, my other blogs are currently parked. Hopefully, they will be back over the weekend.
To all the bloggers who have EC adverts pending on my inbox of my world and library blog, I’m sorry but I can’t approve them until I have the blogs up. Feel free to cancel the advert and just re-apply in a couple of days. I also canceled all the approved ads on queue on all my three blogs, because of this issue. I’m really sorry. I hope you understand.
I’m optimistic that things will go back to normal pretty soon.

no, the issue is not about renewal. the suspension is brought about by the account’s eating up 40% of the shared server. It’s just ridiculous that they allow two instances of the account using up that much space and by the third time if it happens again, they will suspend the account for good. I’m not sure if they will reimburse the paid up subscription if they do that. just make sure, your databases are optimized and errors are kept to a minimum. I think that is the solution if my understanding is right. As you know, I have no idea on the technical side of blogging.

i also have shared ip address as my servers in both hosting. u mean the storage or the bandwidth? they said it’s unlimited with bluehost? i hosted lots of domains also but it’s just fine….ano ba sabi nila yong 40%? storage lang or bandwidth lang or both? nakakatakot naman yan policy nila huh…
I had the same thing happen in January and the host said my account was “pounding the box”. I had absolutely no idea what that meant! It’s very frustrating that without warning, they just suspend an account. I have no technological experience whatsoever and was thankful to find someone to help. I just wish I knew how to keep it from happening again. Every day I pull up my blog just hoping it hasn’t been suspended. It sort of took some of the fun out of it.

I have no idea which is which. It’s the use of the servers, I think that is NOT unlimited, kaya nga shared server siya and I only have 3 blogs hosted with them, one is 2 yrs worth of content, and the other two are almost 2 years. You should ask them na lang. Nakakatakot nga, and I was really surprised to find out. As you see, if you read Lynne’s comment here, she also had the same experience with them.
Getting a dedicated server is not even an option, as they don’t offer it right now. In fact, I think it’s not worth getting it as far as I’m concerned. They only offer high usage server, which I’m not also opting for as I might just quit blogging altogether or maybe keep one blog for fun lang. If my mindset won’t change in 120 days, baka nga bye bye na ako. There are a lot of things that I’ve been neglecting dahil sa kaka-blog hehe. We’ll see na lang what happens.

we were both in the same situation. I have no technological knowledge neither as I’m just relying on someone to do it for me. Yes, if only we know how to prevent it from happening again. it is frustrating and as you said: it takes away the fun. I actually feel the same way now, hoping I wake up to a blog that is not suspended. DO you think BH is the only webhost that have this same type of policy?

oi bumabalik pa si ako hehehe…nag goodnight na yata ah…nwys, meron ddcated ip address ang bluehost kaso around 15 per month…check mo yong UPGRADES. tawag nila PRO PACKAGE…they are offering 1 ddcated ip, 1ssl, 3 free domain name registration and 10 postini email….kaso sa akin share lang kasi ala na budget…sa husband ko na lang yong ddcated though sa sis company ng bluehost….

When I had Bluehost as my host, I got those kinds of errors ALLLLL the time, and so did a lot of my blogger friends. I tend to think the issue is with Bluehost and not so much with the blogs. I have been with Hostgator for 5 months now, and I have NEVER received any kind of error, and certainly no suspension like that! I run about 7 blogs on the same server, along with others. I just think Hostgator is managed better.
I like your blogs, I would hate to see you leave blogging. But I can understand some of the reasons you’d want to walk away. Nonetheless, I wish you well! And I’ll continue to visit and drop cards.

it’s been a pain having to deal with the suspension. but more than that, I’m frustrated and disappointed with their policy. I’m seriously considering switching to another host but that is after I’ve decided on what to really do.

no, BH didn’t warn me. the first suspension greeted me when I first logged in about 6:00 p.m. that day. I was not even informed that you only have 2 chances. and if it happens again the account will be suspended for good.
