Southern California Adventure

In 2006, a visit to the West Coast was in order. After an extended vacation in the Philippines the prior year, we opted  to head out to  California in the Spring of 2006. This was our fist visit together, as we have both visited the place several times when we were still single. Two weeks was not enough to enjoy the places of interest in Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Bakersfield and the nearby towns. While it was tiring because we had to stay in different hotels, it was definitely fun.

While based in Anaheim at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, we also took side trips to San Diego and Long Beach. The hotel’s proximity to the area provided a comfortable and relaxing environment at the end of each day. Just imagine our sore legs after a long day of driving and walking LOL.

We stayed for four days at the Four Season’s Hotel in Beverly Hills and played ‘tourists’ around the LA area all over again. Our stay in the hotel proved to be a good venue for  Hollywood star sightings apart from enjoying the five star accommodation.

A trip to LA is not complete without dropping by the following sites:

We also got to spend a few days with my BFF in Bakersfield. While there, we visited the Sequoia National Park and personally got the chance to see the General Sherman tree, touted as the largest tree in the world, one behemoth of a tree at 275 feet and 2,200 years old.

Hearst Castle – located in San Simeon, California was the palatial estate of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst.

  • Nice one!

Ganda din pala dyan sa Bakersfield ‘no? Before my hubby accepted the job at Univ of Wisconsin, a college in Bakersfield was interested in him too, kaso lang, they won’t reimburse the whole trip during the campus interview. He wasn’t phone interviewed na, diritso na campus visit, but we think it won’t be worth it. Hehe… We’d love to visit nalang the place someday! ;-) I love the very first pic, grabe… so animated!

  • It’s good to see your pictures from 3 years ago manang Juliana! I could tell you and your husband had a memorable and wonderful time together. Thank you for sharing the lovely photos, enjoyed them alot!

I’ve been to CA, but only in LA, I would love to explore more in other cities too, but that will happen when our kids will be older na siguro…:)

Hope you have a great Monday! Ingat dyan…

    Debbie :)

  • Nice photos Juliana! It reminds me of our visit to California a few years ago because we also visited Universal Studios. We had some photos taken there too as souvenirs. California have a lot of tourist spots and we enjoyed our visit there which lasted for 3 weeks. We got to see Sea World, Golden Gate and Lake Tahoe. Thanks for sharing these photos. Have a good day!

Bakersfield is so much like being in a countryside. nakakabingi ang katahimikan lalo na the area where my friend lives. it was nice relaxing in their outdoor jacuzzi while gazing at the moon and the stars. for the record, this was the first time ever that my husband stayed in somebody else’s home while on vacation. cardinal rule kasi ayaw niya ang nakikituloy. but our stay in Bakersfield for 3 nights was an exception dahil makulit ang aking BFF hehehe. hindi maka-hindi ang asawa.
