In this life we are presented with so many choices. It is entirely our prerogative if we choose to trudge a straight, clean life or we want to walk around regarded as a misfit, a law breaker or simply a person known for notoriety. I’m by no means righteous nor a saint, and that is why God made me as human being. But I’m fully aware of the fact that when a person breaks a law or does something that is detrimental to another, there is simply nothing that can justify that crime. When a person starts to plot in their mind and they are fully aware that they are about to commit a crime, I wonder why they don’t see a vivid exit sign which simply signals them to exit that thought.
“Condemn the sin, not the sinner” is an adage that are propagated by the defenders of certain criminals or law breakers. What do they stand to gain? Sympathy for the law breaker, perhaps! But I wonder if the same defenders will sing the same tune if they were the victim of such crime or injustice? Will they be meek and humble and love the criminal? Will they NOT hate or be angry at the person that did such injustice to them?
I have been taught to acknowledge my own exit signs. I just hope that defenders of people who really committed a crime also know when to quit. After all, no one has to ditch a loved one, or a family or a friend for committing a crime. Instead of coming out, publicly professing their defense for the criminal or helping the criminal “concoct a game plan” they should work with the offender towards righting the wrong.
EXIT SIGNS are indispensable in our lives. That is how I regard the many illuminated exit signs that I come across with every single day, in every establishment that I go to. To me, they are not just there to remind me that there is a nearby means of egress. They are also there as reminder that when it is a lost case that I’m fighting for, I sit down and think things through. I just simply need to face the consequences of my action, right my wrong and sincerely show remorse and hopefully learn a valuable lesson.
