Birthdays In October

October is a very much celebrated month because a lot of people from my immediate family and dear friends celebrate their birthdays. But because we were in Italy for a good part of October, I had my “out”. No, just kidding. The greetings and presents may have been delayed, but important days like birthdays are never to be put aside. Just to let you know, my Mom, my only brother, my sister (the one living on Long Island), my model wanna-be niece and three of my very close and dear friends all celebrate their natal days in October.

After the greetings and presents were given, it was time for me to face the last person on my list. The last celebrant for the month, that was October 27, is my very single globetrotting friend, who is contently living her life as free as a bird. Yes, she travels a lot.  Oh, and why did I emphasize “very single”? Because she is indeed single, un-committed and still looking for the right man. Not a single birthday of hers go by without calling her on top of the boxed present we send her. This year, believe it or not, I burned the phone lines with her for 65 minutes because I really wanted her to try out an online dating site, where she can search for free and even sign up for free. True.com, is just about the only online dating site I’m aware of, that really prosecutes criminals once they are found and identified. I’m referring to those married people and convicted felons presenting themselves differently on the site.  That is the reason why I urged her to try it out, as she has never ventured into online sites ever, and I have  very good vibes with True.com. There are millions of members that have signed up, who knows, her perfect match might just be a click away.

Did she open up and was she receptive of my suggestion? You bet, she did. But there is one thing about my friend. All these years that I have been friends with her, she’s always been open to any suggestions, but that does not mean she will actually do it. This time though, I think it’s getting into her, because that clock is ticking. Who knows, this time she may pleasantly surprise me.
