I have always been a girl scout all my life.  I’m not referring about the real Girl Scouts wearing that green uniform. I mean, I always ensure to be always ready for anything that life throws at me. This goes through with how I take care of gadgets as well as electronics.

My husband and I bought our cell phones three years ago and I must admit they are now obsolete. Considering how gadgets come and go, there is always something new. We just can’t keep up with technology. The cell phones however are still working perfectly except for my husband’s cell phone which is now begging to be replaced. Each of us have a second cell phone battery, which we bought at the time when we purchased the units. With the spare batteries, it has allowed us to use our cell phones without fear of getting cut off while engaged. That’s why when we finally replace our cell phones, I will ensure that we are going to have spare cell phone batteries for each unit. This time, we are not going to buy identical cell phones. As early as now, I know what I’m going for, and he has his heart pretty much set to get that unit that is always out of stock (you know what that is).

When will that purchase be? I know, it is not this month(September). We have huge expenses coming up this month and it’s really big. When it rains it pours, as they say. That trip to the Philippines was totally unplanned, hence, the expenses I incurred was also not planned for. So in the meantime, the cell phones can wait. We’ll get to it.

My sister who is equally as lazy as me nowadays, has assigned me a task I cannot refuse. She claims, I’m in a better position to do it because I stay home and I have a live-in help right now. You know what is the task on hand? She’s making me search for a one of a kind over the hill gift for her best friend, Gerda, who has become  a very close friend of our family.

Gerda’s husband is planning a surprise 50th birthday party, and as early as now, he is trying to pull the strings to make this occasion a grand and memorable one. The main issue right now is how  to get Gerda dressed in her evening attire and not draw any suspicion at all. Needless to say, we are all in cahoots and as of this writing, we are still thinking of the best strategy. We celebrate this milestone only once in our life, that is why I understand why Gerda’s husband is meticulously planning the whole affair.

In the meantime, I have to really ensure I get that unique 50th birthday gift. I am fully aware that there are specialty online shops out there that offers well thought off  milestone birthday presents. I actually browsed and check some online and I tell you, I realized how this task on hand is not that easy. Gerda is not hard to please, but she sure is one special woman that deserves one very special gift.

It’s been two weeks since I came back from the Philippines and as I previously wrote I have been slow on accomplishing any of the tasks on hand. It’s good there’s help otherwise, I would all the more feel sorry for myself. Pictures…there’s tons of pictures to upload but I haven’t done any. The one good thing though, is that as soon as I arrived, I immediately unpacked my luggage. Would that have been so bad, if I didn’t.

I’m just plain lazy, I have no drive to accomplish anything. I’m just schlepping along.Everything I do right now is by force except for when I watch my favorite daytime soap.  Would you want to join me?

I sure had one of the longest air travel this summer. It was a totally unplanned trip, an emergency at that, so while I’m used to getting a business class ticket, I had to content myself with an economy class ticket because I was not able to secure the seat I wanted on the date and the airline I preferred had I insisted business class. That long trek to the Philippines, 18 hours total, was not the most comfortable in the coach. That is why every time we head out there, my husband and I opt to go on business class, as the travel time is way too long to compromise comfort.

While a lot of airlines now do not provide a pillow and a travel blanket on board, mine did, but I tell you, it was not the most appealing. Never mind that the cost of the ticket was more than $2,000 and it was really ridiculous that they would let passengers use pillows that look so unhygienic. The complainer in me though, I requested mine to be replaced and the flight attendant dutifully provided a replacement after two hours. Yes, it was that long a wait!

If I had a Cabin Cuddler and have known about it before that flight, it would have come in handy. What a neat invention! Days have been going too slow for me these days. Recently, I have been spared from doing any house chores, as I have the help I need in the house. It’s liberating not to even run around in the supermarket. I’m afraid I’m going to get so used to this set up, that my husband will go broke.

I have been trying to keep busy by immersing myself into a lot of research on the unfinished work I have started a couple of months ago. No, it’s not some kind of research to get paid, it is something that will come in handy for when we need it. So far, even if I’ve been slow in doing it,  I can say that I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Opportunities are aplenty, but I have been slow on that area too. My mind is not really well equipped to deliver these days. I do what I can, and I just want to take it slow.

The labor day weekend is still open. Meaning, we don’t have any activity in  place yet. It’s a 3 day weekend, but unlike  recent years when at this time, we are already certain where we’re headed for the weekend. It’s actually fine with me, as I’m looking forward to just taking that afternoon nap with the husband.

I originally intended to go to bed earlier tonight, but as usual I can’t wind down. So, what’s the next best thing to do? Update this blog!

It’s not yet considered that late anyway, for someone that is considered to be a night owl. The past couple of nights, I have decided to hit the pillows without Ambien’s assistance. And what can I tell you, I was up tossing and turning till the wee hours of the morning. It was very late, I was not even thinking of popping the magic pill anymore, as that would have seen me sleeping till late afternoon.

Right now, I’m going to see where this state of wakefulness takes me. I’m on the driver’s seat, so I will make sure to take the magic pill at the right time. Wish me all the luck.
