Sizzling Hot!

It’s not only sizzling outside, it’s also sizzling inside. Yes, we had power outage at about 12:10 a.m. today and as per information from Maintenance, the heat wave(extreme temperature) caused one of the steam turbines to stop working. Our development operates its own power plant(not dependent on Con Edison), and times like this, the stand by turbine should have started when the first turbine stopped working but it didn’t. Apparently, it passed recent inspection, so why it didn’t work is a good question. So, they are now looking into purchasing a 2-megawatt diesel generator which I gathered from the memo just released will cost $1,000,000.00, which they will be taking out from the money reserves.

The power was restored at 7:30 a.m. which means, we didn’t have airconditioning all night. We didn’t feel the difference and slept through the night because it was still cool inside (good insulation is prime), I still had to go under the sheet. Although the hallways and lobbies were immediately lit, it was total darkness inside and the elevators were not working. The husband had to walk down the stairs from the 14th floor to go to work.

Even with the power back on, the full strength of the airconditioning is not yet back. I can feel it now, because it’s midday, and the temperature outside is 98 degrees with very high humidity. I plan to keep still and not do some chores for now. I hope the air will be back in it’s full strength soon.

  • Sizzling hot? Kala ko you’re talking about you! Hahaha….

Naku power outage throughout the night? It’s a good thing your insulation is good or you would have melted already.

We also a short power outage yesterday…the post in front of our house got hit by lightning. We saw all the sparkles from it…the husband had to call the electric co para ma fix agad and they did. So we were only out of power for 2 hrs. Buti na lang it’s still bright at 8 PM here.

Sana naman hindi na pinawisan ang hindi dapat pawisan…hahaha. Another late night na naman ikaw kasi you have to catch on your chores now.

    Tuks

    Juliana’s last blog post..Spoon Art….

  • We never experienced brown out here in TX that long even during summer season which is really hot. Good grief, it’s too hot not to have an AC so I’m glad we always have power here unlike in the Philippines. Laging brown out do’n.

  • Hindi na masyado ngayon mga Tita na nasa Tate:-)

Although the temperature is super hot wala pa naman brownout masyado ( at least where I am). I hope it stays that way.

What’s actually killing us folks here is the high energy cost.

Just dropping a line Juliana :-)

    Have a good day.

    Cheers!

same here, energy cost is soaring. everyone is affected globally. prices of every single basic commodity has gone up. grabe, you may not hear about it so much, but here in the US dami ng nagugutom. Mga tao nagnanakaw ng gasolina from your vehicle. It’s very rampant all over the US big and small cities. at least sa atin, walang nagnanakaw ng gas from the vehicle. marami diyan, they use their bike na lang to get to work. ganun kahirap ng buhay din dito.
