There’s one Filipino dish(ginisang chayote) that I have been making every week for the past three weeks together with sweet plantains as a result of the visit to the Caribbean. This is because my husband has taken a liking to them. The chayote dish was even more wanted when he had oral surgery as it is easy to chew. He says he likes the taste so much. I got this recipe from Lisa’s food blog. I must admit, there’s tons of Filipino dishes that I can’t cook because I simply don’t know how, as I never cooked when I was still back in the Philippines. I only learned and started to love cooking after I got married. I’m glad, Lisa’s blog comes in handy whenever I want to try something new. Thanks Lisa. Hope you keep posting Pinoy dishes so that novice cooks like me can learn.
This is it:

Wow naman, sarap nyan> It made me hungry looking at the photos. I love chayote. When we were in Baguio, we just go at the backyard of my brother-in-law’s house and pick chayote and also the tops. Sometimes we just boil it and dip it with bagoong and vinegar. Yummy… I love the friend banana too. I miss it…
@ Lisa
hope you don’t mind, ni link ko recipe mo. yeah, the tops is so good, kaya lang I dont’ think it can be sourced out here. even when I was still in Manila, madalang na available ang tops. kahit nga sa ilocos , ganun din, it’s not always available.
Lisa is one of my favorite blogger and I visit her page regularly to check on new recipes and I’m learning a lot from her. Being able to cook one recipe appreciated by your loved one’s is so fulfilling.
Bon Appetite!

It’s okay that you linked me here. I appreciate it very much. So how does the chayote turned out? Was it good or so-so?
Oooooooh! Nothing beats Pinoy breakfast! Or, the simplest dish of all, adobo chicken, which is just so mouth-wateringly delicious. I think you’ve inspired me to make some tomorrow!

@ Francine
I’m not sure which among these would be the best French translation for chayote:Christophine, Chouchou, Chouchoutte, Chayotte. Check mo na lang.
