Among family and friends, it’s not a hidden secret how I have been interested in interior design. It just didn’t happen overnight, as I also had this passion even when I was still single. I decorated my own place to my heart’s content, and since I didn’t have to consider anyone else, I was able to express myself through pieces of accessories, color palette, furniture and different textures that I wanted to incorporate in a room.
That passion was all the more ignited when I got married, and became a full time housewife. After our wedding, I moved in to my husband’s apartment that he’s owned since he got out of his parent’s home. And what was my first mission? To re-decorate and transform the place to my liking. Needless to say, that the apartment was decorated tastefully, considering that it was a bachelor man living there. The one thing that I really didn’t like was the wall to wall carpeting in all the rooms except the kitchen and bathroom.
Off the carpeting went, and the floor once stripped, revealed beautiful hardwood floors, which we had sanded and re-finished. I was extremely satisfied with the look, I went ahead and bought area rugs for all the rooms. Since, I have a love affair with traditional decors, the area rugs I bought were all of the same style. My husband loved the transformation.
Now on to our new place, four years ago, I again had the chance to explore my decorating sense. Although, I worked with an architect and an interior designer (the real thing, *lol*), I had a say on all the single detail that was done. For some of you that have been reading this blog for a while, you’ve seen pictures of our place. Did you notice that area rugs are used in all the rooms? And that does not spare the eat-in kitchen. I have an 8′x11′ sisal area rug that anchors the breakfast nook. Starting from our foyer, as you enter you’ll immediately notice the liberal use of area rugs. Almost all the area rugs I picked have a traditional feel, they just differ from colors and design.
I love the idea of being able to replace area rugs whenever I fancy. As compared to carpeting, whenever a replacement is needed, it entails labor to pull up the old and oh, those pins and what not used to anchor the carpet, it’s aplenty, plus add to that the fact that, all the furniture will have to be moved. With the wide selection of area rugs at BoldRugs.com, I will never run out of area rugs to buy. Besides, with the four seasons here, changing area rugs every season change is a welcoming thought. Why shouldn’t I make my home match the change in seasonal colors? After all, it’s an extension of myself.
Area rugs are decorative and adds softness to a room. It adds depth and texture, and most of all it anchors a room and adds texture. I have no reservations using area rugs all over, including the bathroom. Do you?

Carpets are not feasible here in Manila. It gets too dusty and too expensive to clean! But I like the idea of area rugs.

I have area rugs in our living room, family room and bedroom. I like it and it’s also a great accent in the house. I’m not very fond of carpets but I like area rugs.
We only have one area rug, but that’s to be expected since we live within the small spaces of a townhouse, but I’m thinking of buying another rug to replace our old one… or maybe alternate using the two.

having an interior decorator wife is really something
area rug is really better here in PI compared with carpet, especially if your house does not have a centralized AC unit.
