Finally...

I’m glad we can now say we made the right decision. Remember my entry a few weeks ago about being incoherent? It took us a while to make the final decision on a very critical issue about the future of a child. I’m not talking about a baby here, not an adoption, NOT YET. I’m talking about sending a kid to school.

Yes, hubby and I decided and committed to help a child to be able to continue to go to school. We will be sponsoring the education of a high school senior right now(Philippines school setting), to go to De La Salle University Manila come May 2008 and pursue an Engineering degree. This is five years of commitment, no re-payment required; the only requirement from us would be for the kid to excel and graduate with flying colors. It was tough for us, because we weren’t sure if we can be committed that long, and having been carefree all our adult lives not having to worry about financially supporting anyone; yet it tugged our hearts to see the dreams of a brilliant kid go down the drain. He can always go to a less expensive school, many would say. But the fact that he will have greater and better opportunities as graduate from this school, we just couldn’t say NO.

That’s money well spent, and our ability and WILLINGNESS to be able to help gives us contentment and joy. Giving a brilliant future to a brilliant kid : priceless!
