Peeling myself out of bed at 9:00 a.m. today was such a challenge. As everyone knows, I’m a night owl thus, I am a late riser. Saturdays are no exception but I sort of programmed my head, that heading out early was the only way to get in and out of Costco fast. We haven’t been there since November and I wanted to replenish my supplies and pantry, as inventory of some essentials are now running low.
We had breakfast at Vegas Diner and since the service was quick we were done after an hour. However, we had to detour to a Honda Dealership in Bayridge to buy steering wheel fluid. We were at Costco by 12:00 p.m., and as expected it was like a zoo from the parking lot to the selling floor. To make things worse, when we were finally done with shopping, it took about 20 minutes to get to the escalator going to the ground floor to the registers. I don’t know why the old set-up is not in place. Although, it was always crowded, we never had to navigate through a long line just to get to the escalator heading to the ground floor.
Despite the hassle, this is one store I will always go back to. The annual membership fee of $50, is worth it. The big savings accumulated year round is nothing to sneer at. I just have to really hone my storing and packing skills as everything is in bulk, and since it’s just me and my husband it takes a while before the pantry or closet space is freed up.

This is interesting. Our Costco is on one huge floor, no escalators, thank GOD!
Also, our membership costs $42 annually, but I agree with you, much as I despise the crowds, I am a Costco whore. I will continue to give it up to The Man to get one package of multiple rolls of toilet paper in one trip.
And don’t get me started on the half gallons of half and half for my coffee.
