I’m not a football fan, but my husband is. If it is any indication how a big fan he is with the closet full of Sports Cards Collection and other memorabilia he’s collected since he was 8 years old, then I can say he’s a football addict. Well, it shouldn’t surprise a lot of us.
That being said, our household is gearing up for the big event this Sunday. As early as now, the husband, who’s in-charge of food buying on the weekends, is now gearing up towards getting “super bowl friendly” food. He’s always excited and looking forward to this event every year. He always makes sure he does not start “trouble”
with me, lest his super bowl night is ruined and won’t be able to totally catch a glimpse of the game. He’s not a Giants fan, if you wanna know who he’s rooting for. He roots for the Rams(he’s a loyal fan), but this year I think if he has to take a pick, the Giants would be it.
Okay folks, let’s get ready!

Whewww…. what else is new? This household of two have been having looong nights lately. I don’t know when it will stop. I just want to scream!!!!!
My husband’s late nights at the office is really making me go insane. What, with the late nights of cooking and cleaning up in the kitchen. The thing is, I don’t start cooking till he’s on the way home because I want the food to be freshly made and not just re-heated. It has always been like this since we got married, and I don’t want to just stop. It’s a dilemma. I dislike the fact that I find myself cleaning up in the kitchen at 11:00 p.m. but I seem to have no choice.
What’s my option?

Although, I was nervous and my mind was pre-occupied last night with today’s doctor’s appointment, I purposely wanted to distract my mind thus, I whipped up these lamb chops for dinner. For the recipe, if anyone out there is interested, you can check it out here.

As expected, today’s doctor’s visit was just like any ordinary visits in the past. I waited for hours and I was done and finally walked out of the office by 5:00 p.m.. The appointment was set at 1:00 p.m., so go figure the amount of time I was stuck in there. Well, I didn’t mind at all as there was not much I could do. All that matters for now is, I’m fine, thank God.

While everyone here in the US anxiously wait for President Bush’s State Of The Union Address tonight, I on the other hand wait in a nervous state for my doctor’s appointment tomorrow.
You see, I feel like my ‘good health’ is renewable every six months. This started in 1997 when I found out I had a cyst on my left breast. I had my first surgery to remove the cyst which turned out to be cysts (three) at the Cardinal Santos Hospital in the Philippines. Thank God it was benign. When I moved to the US in 1999, the cysts were ‘reincarnated’ on the right breast; had them removed through my insistent although my doctor thought it was not necessary since he was absolutely sure they were ‘nothing’. The tests proved he was right. Since then, I see my surgical oncologist every six months. Yes, the cysts are back and they have been there for 5 years already.
I thank God, that I am under the care of one of the best Breast Surgical Oncologist here in the state of NY. I feel safe under his care. It’s insane that I go through this every six months and it really is nerve wracking to say the least. But, I take it as it comes. I shall breath easier again after tomorrow, and hope for another six months of ‘good health’.

I don’t know why these two legal documents just came to my mind today. Maybe because, in a few months, we’re taking our first vacation for the year. It’s during the time when we’re planning to go away when I have these on my head yet, we never simply take it seriously. What is a living will and a living trust anyway?
I’m writing the definition of living will as written on answers.com:
A living will is a legal document in which patients instruct health-care providers about their wishes with respect to medical procedures should they become incapacitated. The living will and the durable medical power of attorney are two federally mandated parts of what is known as advanced medical directives.
As for living trust , this is based on NY State office of the Atty. General:
A revocable inter vivos trust (living trust) is created for the purpose of holding ownership to an individual’s assets during the person’s lifetime, and for distributing those assets after death. The individual who creates the trust (the grantor) names a person who will serve as trustee and will follow the trust’s terms after the grantor dies. While alive, the grantor usually may serve as a trustee and control the assets even though they belong to the trust.
My husband and I know the importance of these two documents and we’re simply part of the bigger population who haven’t taken the step to keep things in order yet. It’s not that we’re preparing to pass away; it’s about taking care and protecting ones self and loved ones.
As the Office of NY State Atty. General states : Perhaps the biggest advantage of a living trust is that it does not have to go through probate, as does a will. However, there are other estate planning devices which avoid probate, such as a joint tenancy, a life insurance policy, and in-trust-for bank account (also known as a Totten Trust), and individual retirement, pension or Keogh accounts. In addition, living trust salespeople often overstate the cost of probate and the length of time it takes to probate a simple will.
Now, when are we going to take the first step and have these documents drafted? I don’t know… Maybe soon…

For a change, tonight my husband is coming home earlier. This week, we’ve been having dinner at 10:00 / 10:15 give or take since Tuesday night.
It’s Friday, I should get a break from cleaning up in the kitchen that late. Tonight’s dinner is brought in, I have no clue what it is, as he is coming home with the food. I’m just glad, I can wind down and relax after an earlier dinner.
You must be smiling, as the time is now 7:48 p.m. Most are almost done with dinner. Well, that’s how it is in our house. Hopefully, it will change. When? It’s a big question mark.
